Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting, held each summer at Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick, is a full day of classes and workshops designed to benefit dancers, dance educators, dance lovers and administrators alike. Registration forms are available on the website approximately one month before the event. This event is free to Dance New Jersey members.

Show Up and Dance
Show Up and Dance, presented at least twice a year at different venues, is an opportunity for dance artists to exhibit their work in a supportive environment. Members of Dance New Jersey are invited to showcase a work in progress or present a complete work, as a means to solicit constructive feedback from peers and to gain exposure. The general public is invited to join in the fun for a nominal fee. Members need not pay anything additional to participate, but pre-registration is required.

First Look
First Look is combined auditions and a job fair for the dance community. What began as an opportunity for dancers to participate in one audition for major dance companies throughout the state, has since expanded to also include a job fair for studios seeking teachers and venues searching for technical help. First Look is held annually and is free to Dance New Jersey members.

Professional Development Workshop Series
Workshops are conceived and presented based on specific needs/concerns of the dance community. Workshops are announced via email and posted at dancenj.org. Have an idea for a workshop? Let us know! Dance New Jersey is dedicated to developing current and pertinent initiatives that will benefit a significant number of members as well as support the work of the presenters/speakers.

Dance Education on the Move
“Dance Education on the Move” is a monthly newsletter written by Dr. Theresa Purcell Cone, Dance New Jersey Trustee and nationally recognized dance educator. The newsletter focuses on issues, news and trends in dance education and is distributed to the entire Dance New Jersey membership via email. Read recent back issues.

Fiscal Agent Program/Mentoring
Dance New Jersey serves as the fiscal agent to applicable dance companies who do not yet have 501c3 status. Acceptance in the program allows an organization to utilize Dance New Jersey’s non-profit status to solicit charitable donations. An emerging company may present an application for a one-time event or an entire season of performances. Read the complete guidelines. Single project application. Emerging company application.

Awards and Scholarships
Dance New Jersey administers and adjudicates the annual Governor’s Awards for Arts Education – Student Award for Artistic Excellence and Leadership in Dance. Dual members of Dance New Jersey and the National Dance Education Organization may also apply to operate a chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts at their school or studio and are then applicable to apply for NDEO’s National Artistic Merit Leadership and Academic Achievement Award.

Advocacy
Dance New Jersey serves as the unified voice for the interests of the dance community. It is essential that Dance New Jersey stay attuned to national dance trends/issues as well as the regional and local state of the arts and needs of individual artists within the membership. Trustees and staff frequently represent the state’s dance community by serving on state and national committees and boards and attending major conferences and events.

Information Services - www.dancenj.org
The Dance New Jersey website is an important tool in connecting the dance community and the general public to the breadth of dance in the state. As well as being a portal to everything about the organization, the website includes a calendar of dance events throughout the state that is updated frequently and supplemented with a weekly email to the entire membership. The website also includes job listings (listings are free for members), a membership directory, dance and education news, and links to state and national organizations.
