How to Maximize DonorsChoose.Org: Connecting Donors to Your Program
Need Barres? Mirrors? costumes? or other necessities that your school can't provide yet? DonorsChoose.Org can help you get what you need quickly! DonorsChoose.Org is a crowdfunding platform that provides a means to mitigate district funding limitations by providing a teacher-only site to propose needed materials and education experiences. With over $8,000 of successfully funded projects, Elizabeth Zwierzynski, will present a how-to workshop to get your first or next DonorsChoose.Org project up and running. The goal is to help teachers create a project within the hour by collaborating in small groups to create a proposal. Nationwide exemplars of dance projects, outreach strategies, corporate match offers, and commonly requested dance materials will be shared. Participants are encouraged to bring a mobile device to the workshop and data about how many students their program serves, a photo of their classroom in action and a photo of themselves.

Espressione Corporea:
Making Connections between Artistic Disciplines and Body Movement
Espressione Corporea is a Dalcroze-based technique that has, as its objective, body movement in relation to musical language and to all forms of artistic expression. In this way, the elements common to the various artistic disciplines (time, space, energy) are expressed through the body. This workshop will look at the relationship between musicality, graphic/visual elements and their relation to movement, and involve bodywork, free exploration, elemental analysis, and improvisations. Focusing on musical and visual concepts through social and interactive methods, participants will explore musical phrasing of movement, the expressive potential of the voice, and the development of rhythmic sense. This workshop will provide teachers with tools useful for designing an interdisciplinary modality and experimenting with the expressive dimensions of the body. Through Espressione Corporea participants will experience a greater awareness of their own resources, acquire greater mastery of body language, and live the arts through the body.
